Carol Bray - Teacher

Carol Bray is a professional pianist, singer, teacher and composer, having performed in major cities throughout the United States. An extremely versatile performer, she is an active soprano soloist in repertoire including opera, oratorio, art song, musical theatre, and symphonic works. As a pianist she is also active as an accompanist for musical theatre, choral, vocal solo and instrumental solo classical performances.


Carol Bray is Founding Director and Voice and Piano Instructor at Bray Music Studio, in West Chester, OH, of more than 35 years. Her teaching style is both creative and enthusiastic. She gives students a thorough foundation in technique, music theory and musicianship through a variety of music styles. Her passion and dedication to teaching are reflected in the accomplishments of her students. They actively perform in theatre, concert, opera and competition venues in the Greater Cincinnati area, on Broadway and internationally. Students of Carol Bray have gone on as music majors in conservatories and colleges across the United States, have performed internationally, and in nationally televised broadcasts, and have been winners of the BroadwayWorld Regional Awards, Idol contests, International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, the Cappies, ACT Cincinnati Orchid Awards, Bravo Award, Celebrity 

Showdown, Honor Band of America, Ohio Music Educators Association All-State Honors Choir, All-State Honors Band and All-State Honors Jazz Ensembles, the prestigious Cincinnati Arts Association Overture Awards Competition, Wm. E. Schmidt Youth Vocal Competition, ABC's TV show American Idol and NBC's TV shows The Voice and Clash of the Choirs.


Mrs. Bray, with husband conductor Dr. David K. Bray, owned and managed the Great Miami Choral Society (for which Mrs. Bray also performed), Cincinnati Christian Orchestra and the Great Miami Orchestra, 1986-92. Mrs. Bray served on the faculty at the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati as lecturer in the Voice Department, as private piano and voice instructor for the Preparatory Department, and as accompanist for the Voice, Choral and Musical Theatre Departments. Concurrently, she served for several years in many Churches as organist, keyboardist, choral director and vocal soloist, and for 2 years was a symphony pianist. Mrs. Bray was a choral and general music educator in the Hamilton, Ohio, public school system.


Carol Bray graduated summa cum laude with Bachelor degrees in Piano Performance, Voice and Music Education from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. She is listed in Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, 1982-83. Mrs. Bray is winner of Three-Arts, McElroy and Carl Meyer Scholarship competitions. She is also an alumna of honor societies Alpha Lambda Delta, Sophos and Pi Kappa Lambda (national music honor society - membership bestowed solely by nomination from college faculty).
