Get out your best polyester frock and fluff up your fro — it’s party time on the Barracuda, the casino riverboat bound for destruction in “DISASTER!,” a ridiculously funny musical full of 1970s pop and disco hits. Congratulations to Bray Studio's singers (present and former) in the show: Tess Brewer, Noah Carras, Erika Smith, Andrea Poole, Megan Ledford and Gerardo Contreras! Coming April 26-29, 2018. The new cast list is up for HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME. Congratulations to Bray Studio's Maliyah Gaines, Olivia Reese and Jenna Skidmore! This show opens May 25, 2018, and is sponsored by Royal Theatre Company.

This little titan talent in NEWSIES the musical is a force to watch! Hats off to 9 yr. old Ella Predmore for her dynamic performance in this show, presented by Inspiring Arts Productions. Ella takes private voice lessons with teacher Carol Bray, Bray Music Studio, in West Chester, OH.


Congratulations to Bray Studio's amazingly talented 8-yr. old singer Polina Komissarova for her wonderfully successful performance in the starring role of FROG, in A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD! This musical was nominated for 3 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Presented by Sharonville Performing Arts, Inc., in Greater Cincinnati. Yay!


Kudos to the cast of SEUSSICAL for their successful and wonderfully animated show! Special congratulations go to Bray Studio's Maliyah Gaines, Jenna Skidmore, Ella Predmore, former students Brianna Kendall Smith, and Brinley Culver as JOJO, for their fine performances! Congratulations to Bray Studio’s talented singers who performed at the 2018 Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Solo & Ensemble contest. It was an exciting day and all gave beautiful performances. ALL singers received outstanding ratings of Superior ( I ) and Excellent ( II ) from the judges in the Solo Vocal category - Laurel Dobrozsi ( I ), Olivia Wiles ( I ), Erika Smith ( I ), Amanda Joiner ( I ), Elizabeth Gildemeister ( I ), Tara Maine ( I ) and Annalise Longfellow ( II ). The event was held on Saturday, January 21, 2018. Well done, everyone!


Cheers to Bray Studio’s Olivia Reese who has been cast as the ever funny ZANEETA SHINN (the Mayor’s daughter), in that wonderfully entertaining musical THE MUSIC MAN! Congratulations to Bray Studio's Olivia Reese starring as YOUNG SHIRLEY ABRAMOWITZ and Morgan Tracy as TINY TIM and PILGRIM WOMAN, in CONEY ISLAND CHRISTMAS!
Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies weaves together nostalgia, music and merriment for this holiday show for people of all ages and all faiths. CONEY ISLAND CHRISTMAS, based on the story “The Loudest Voice” by Grace Paley, introduces us to Shirley Abramowitz, a young Jewish girl who (much to her immigrant parents’ exasperation) is cast as Jesus in the school’s Christmas pageant. As Shirley, now much older, recounts the memorable story to her great-granddaughter, the play captures a timeless and universal tale of what it means to be an American during the holidays.

Applause, applause for Bray Studio's Polina Komissarova! This 8 yr. old vivacious talent will be making her stage debut taking lead roles in two shows this fall: A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, and NUNCRACKERS.
Polina stars as FROG in A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD. This musical was nominated for 3 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The show dates are November 10-12, 2017, and presented by Sharonville Performing Arts, Inc., in Greater Cincinnati.
Little Miss Komissarova has also been cast as MARIA in NUNCRACKERS (1 of only 4 children's parts). Congratulations to Bray Studio’s David Baur, whose Broadway success is celebrated in a feature article in West Chester & Liberty Lifestyle magazine, August Issue, 2017. David’s former vocal training with teacher Carol Bray, Bray Music Studio, led to his acceptance to Wright State University’s Musical Theatre undergraduate program in 2006. Since college graduation and his move to New York City, David has performed in some of the most well-known shows and musicals to ever grace the stage, including BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, THE WIZARD OF OZ, and countless others. However, there’s more than just Broadway fame on the mind of this West Chester native. Bravo to Bray Studio’s Claire Connell as ROZ in the 2017 Junior Musical Theater Intensive at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music's Preparatory department production of SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, JR! Show times were May 4 - 6.
Students from CCM Prep’s Junior Musical Theatre Intensive (Jr. MTI) previously presented an excerpt of SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, JR at the iTheatrics Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta, where they earned an Excellence in Dance award. CCM’s Jr. MTI program has presented at this competition for four years and has achieved recognitions of excellence each year. The competition has also led to individual opportunities for students.

The 2017 Cincinnati Arts Association Overture Awards Scholarship Competition was held on January 21st, for all of Greater Cincinnati’s high school students. It is an honor for me to announce CONGRATULATIONS to Bray Studio’s Kayla Stroud for making it to the Semi-Finals in Musical Theatre. Miss Stroud is 1 of 19 who achieved this distinction out of 300 who competed in the Theatre category, on January 21st. Kayla is a Senior at William Mason High School, in Mason, OH.
Each year, more than 500 of the region’s most talented high school students compete as solo artists to win the top prize of $4,000, or to place among the 3-runners up for $1,000, in each of 6 categories. The Overture Semi-Finals will take place on February 11th, at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, Cincinnati, and is open to the public.

Congratulations to former Voice student Megan Ledford, who has been selected for the 2017 High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall. Ledford, Junior at Mason High School, Mason, OH, will perform Soprano 2 with the Carnegie Hall High School Honors Concert Choir on February 5 in New York City.
Earlier this year, Ledford auditioned for the Honors Performance Series and was accepted after a review by the Honors Selection Board. Acceptance to the elite group is a direct result of the talent, dedication, and achievements demonstrated in her application and audition recording.
According to Morgan Smith, Program Director, “Being selected to the Honors Performance Series is something each Finalist should be extremely proud of accomplishing. We processed more than 18,000 nominations this year and have selected nearly 750 of the most talented student performers from around the world. Working with these conductors and performing at Carnegie Hall is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that these musicians never forget”.

Ledford has studied music for eight years and is a member of the Mason High School Concert Choir. Along with the other finalists, she will travel to New York City for five days in February 2017. Ledford will have the opportunity to learn from world-renowned conductors, work with other Finalists, and get a taste of New York City. Two performances, an Honors Choral Performance and an Honors Instrumental Performance, will take place Sunday, February 5 at Carnegie Hall.

Congratulations to Bray Studio's Morgan Copas, who has been nominated to participate in the OMEA District 13 Honors Chorus, under the baton of William Sauerland, Director of Choral and Vocal Activities at Chabot College in Haywood, CA! The dates of the event are February 24 and 25, 2017.
Congratulations and best wishes to Bray Studio's Kate Fulmer (JACK'S MOTHER) and to Olivia Wiles (RAPUNZEL) in the Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine musical INTO THE WOODS! Next, you can find her in ANNIE, the musical, presented by Children’s Theatre of Mason, on Nov. 4-6. Then, taking a lead role in SEUSSICAL, as KANGAROO, JR., Brinley and her cast will be performing at Anderson Center, on Jan 27, 28, 2017. PETER AND THE STARCATCHER features Bray Studio's Kayla Stroud (MOLLY ASTER), Spencer Walsh (MR. SMEE), and former student Megan Ledford (LOST BOY) among other wonderful talents! It is a brand new play based on a novel from humorist Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, and tells the origin story of Peter Pan and Captain Hook and how they became the eternal enemies we know so well. The show is presented by Mason High School, Mason, OH, and runs Oct 21, 22, 28, 29. Break a leg!

Congratulations to Bray Studio's Spencer Walsh (UNCLE FESTER), Kayla Stroud, Annie Wesner, Andrea Poole, former students Megan Ledford and Kate Shields, and the rest of the fine cast and crew of THE ADDAMS FAMILY, the musical! The show was a big success, full of hilarious and creepy antics and dynamic entertainment. The show ran September 23-25, presented by Acting Up Theatre, Mason, OH.

Kudos to Bray Studio's Olivia Wiles and Laurel Dobrozsi performing in the musical HAIRSPRAY, running July 21-23, at Miami University's Parrish Auditorium! Presented by Encore Youth Theatre.

We are excited to congratulate Danielle Morey and Ally Peebles, WINNERS of the Ohio Community Theatre Association (OCTA) Scholarship Award!!!!! They are 2 of only 3 winners in the state, and we are proud that they are singers from Bray Music Studio, under the direction of teacher Carol Bray!

The OCTA Southwest Regional Conference is held the fourth weekend of June each year. This conference, hosted by ACT-Cincinnati, Inc. brings together all community theater in the southwest region for a celebration of theater featuring excerpts from one show from each group’s past season.
